Glendale, CA–the “Armenia: An Open Wound” exhibition will mark its closing day on Saturday, June 11, 2016. The Armenian American Museum will offer docent-led tours every hours starting at 10:30 AM and concluding at 3:30 PM. The tours are free and open to the public with no advanced registration required.
Since its international debut on April 16, 2016 at the Brand Library & Art Center, the “Armenia: An Open Wound” exhibition has hosted thousands of organized tours including private & public school, community organizations, and City of Glendale officials. The Armenian American Museum and the Brand Library & Art Center have also organized weekly programs geared toward attracting diverse audiences to the exhibition and shedding light on a broad range of multi-cultural themes and social justice issues.
The “Armenia: An Open Wound” exhibition is presented by The City of Glendale Library, Arts & Culture Department in partnership with the Armenian American Museum and is curated by the Museo Memoria y Tolerancia [Museum of Memory & Tolerance] in Mexico City. The exhibition illustrates early Armenian culture on their ancestral lands and provides insight into the events which led to the 1915 Armenian Genocide. The exhibition highlights the unique contributions of the international Armenian diaspora with a focus on survivors who settled in Mexico during the early 20th century.
All community members are encouraged to attend the exhibition closing date on Saturday, June 11, 2016 and connect with Armenian American Museum representatives to learn more about the project and get involved.
